assumptions made in order to establish the package prices:
Please note that although the packages are
intended to provide real prices for real workable packages, I recognise
that you may be not be able to meet all the assumptions below, don’t
worry I can be adaptable and the cost will only increase to cover any
additional work, if it is necessary.
You may also have specific needs for your
website, simply discuss your needs and ideas with me, be assured that I
can be adaptable and I will keep any increase in cost to a minimum. |

Definitions |
You
– means the Client for the commissioned website |

I/me
– means the website designer, editor and/or maintainer, A Cat’s
Whisker |
| General |
It is
assumed that you have access to a computer with a modem
or have a friend, relation or colleague who has,
and who is prepared to assist you with providing me with digital
text/data. Note internet and
email connections can be made available, as part of the website design
service – basic telephone support for Outlook Express (version 5 on) and
Internet Explorer, will be provided to set up these
services. |
| Website (Domain)
Name |
Until
recently it has been possible to register many domain names free of
charge, however the main company offering this service has now withdrawn
it. If this is not available to you, then you will need to
consider the registration and the hosting of your domain name.
Depending on your choice of name, I can currently offer registration
and hosting from as little as £36 for the first year. You should choose a name in consultation with the website
designer, contact
me to discuss your options or if you want to look at the availability of
possible domain names before contacting me "click
here". Where
domain names and hosting services are provided they will be
subject to the terms and conditions of the respective service provider.
The website name will remain your property,
subject to the terms and conditions of registration.

| Support |
Basic
support will be provided free of charge, as detailed elsewhere, however this will be
limited to telephone support during calls made at your cost and will be at
a mutually agreed time – to be agreed by telephone or email unless
support can be given at the time of the call. |
| Text |
All
original main text, corrections and updates will be provided in digital
form, e.g. emails, text files, Word or WordPerfect files other digital
forms may be included by negotiation. |

The
client will be responsible for identifying any errors in the original text
(see section on maintenance), although if spotted whilst creating the
website, they will be queried for possible correction. |
| Maintenance/Errors |
Definition
– Maintenance is the correction of minor errors and mistakes, broken
links and other amendments needing minor correction from information
supplied. Normally within 1 to 14 days of receipt of information. |
| Minor
Updates |
Definition:
minor textural updating, new price lists, changing existing photographs, updating dates
of forthcoming events from information supplied. This will be normally undertaken within 1 to 14 days of receipt of
information and
at the pre-agreed period. |
| Major
Updates |
Definition:
major textural updating and significant site changes e.g. new additional
pages and features, style changes etc. |
| Quality
Control |
In order
to reduce the design costs, it is assumed that you will share the
responsibility for quality control. This
means that you are expected to log onto the website, (I am sure that you
will want to anyway!) and help test the links etc.
This should be done within a reasonable time span, (say 30 days) of
the publishing of the original website. Any error corrections and major
updates will notified to you by email. |
| 2nd
& Subsequent Years Maintenance |
Is payable in the second and subsequent years, it includes the
Maintenance/Error work as detailed above, for all pages and links as
originally commissioned or as added to by new work ordered.
This is normally taken up in conjunction with the continuation of
the minor update service. |
| Advertisements |
No
external advertising will knowingly be placed on your site, unless
requested by you, with the possible exception of any included with any
third party script e.g. visitor counter, guest book, map etc and the
standard “A Cat’s Whisker” logo and links. |
| Contact
Information |
For you
i.e. Name, Address, Telephone and Fax as supplied by you and email where
provided with the website registration or as provided by you. |
| Content |
The
content of the website as supplied by you remains your property, however
the website design as published is the property of A Cat’s Whisker.
Ownership can be purchased e.g. for transfer to a new webmaster and such
transfer will not be unreasonably withheld. |
| Copyright |
I will
assume that all contents and photographs etc supplied by you will be free
of any copyright issues i.e. you own the copyright or have sought
permission for its use. All original content supplied by me e.g. photographs, will
remain my copyright, unless specifically purchased by you.
Other unoriginal content supplied by me will be subject to copyright/permission of
the supplier which I will obtain if appropriate. |
| External
Links |
If
links to other websites are requested, you will provide the website
address details and test all links. |
| Guest Books |
Where
requested, these will be provided and may use third party script.
It’s functionality and provision will be under the terms and
conditions of the original supplier.
It possible for visitors to leave
unsuitable messages, it will be your responsibility to check the messages
and to identify any that you want removed by email.
These will be normally be removed under the maintenance terms as
detailed in the Guest Book Maintenance section.
If requested it may be possible to provide
automatic notification to you when information is added.

Book Maintenance |
Spurious or
unsuitable messages should be notified to the website maintainer and will,
in normal circumstances, be removed from the guest book within 1 to 14
days working days of receipt of email.
Offensive messages
should be notified to the website maintainer and will, in normal
circumstances, be removed from the guest book within 2 days working days
of receipt of email. You will be notified of this action by email. |
| Passwords |
Where
you are aware of any passwords relating to the website, you will maintain
their confidentiality. |
| Payments |
Website
Name: If purchase is necessary the payment of costs and charges will
be required in advance - see Website Name section. |

Design:
For website designs costing less that £200, £20 is payable in advance.
For website designs costing more that £201, 15% of the agreed sum
is payable before design commences. The remaining amount invoiceable
upon publication of the first draft website. |
|
VAT:
A Cat’s Whisker, at the time of writing, is not VAT registered,
therefore VAT is not chargeable. In
the unlikely circumstances that this changes you will be notified by email
and VAT will then become payable on any future invoices which are not in
you possession at the time of notification. |

Maintenance
for 2nd and Subsequent Years:
Normally in advance at the beginning of the maintenance period. Fees are payable within 30 days of
invoice - also see Payments – Design section. |

Failure
to Pay: If payment is not received
by the due date the contents of the website will be removed and
substituted with a temporary page referring any visitor to your email
address. This will be replaced once payment has been received.. |
| Photographs |
You
will supply original photographs in print or if in digital form, in a format
and size is to be agreed. You will provide an appropriate description or website
heading with each photograph. |
| Temporary
Pages |
Whilst
design work is underway a temporary page will be published, with contact
details and basic information about the site. |
| Visitor
Counter |
Where
requested, these will be provided and may use third party script.
It’s functionality and provision will be under the terms and
conditions of the original supplier. |
| Web
Pages |
Size:
For the purposes of pricing it is assumed that a web page will be designed
to be viewed on screen size set to 800 by 600 pixels. |

Length:
The length of a page will limited to approximately 4 page scrolls i.e.
2400 pixels. |
